Touch a Truck Recap
Messes were made. bins got clean. fun was had.
1 Large Wheel Spinner + ketchup, mustard, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, spray bottle whipped cream, spray bottle shaving cream = one messy garbage bin.

Hundreds of kids got to take a crack at our fun wheel spinner, which decided what messy item they got to use to help make our garbage bin disgusting... Only for us to then clean it up in front of everyone.

Honestly, we might have had even more fun than the kids.  And we learned a lot and will be making some tweaks for future events we attend.  That said, what a great event thrown by the White Bear Lake Police Department at Podvin Park; last Thursday, May 9.

We've got lots more events coming up this summer that we'll be participating in, including having a booth some Thursday evenings at Marketfest in downtown White Bear Lake.  And plenty of parades around the north metro.  Stay tuned!  We love meeting you and showing everyone what we do.

MN Bin Bath operates from roughly April through November . Once the freezing temps set in, our equipment and wastewater systems can't run safely. But that doesn't mean your bins stop getting dirty. Food waste, pet messes, and odors can still build up—even in the cold. Tips for Winter Bin Care Double-Bag Wet Waste: Prevent liquids from freezing at the bottom. Use Baking Soda or Vinegar: Natural deodorizing once bins are in cold storage. Line with Cardboard or Newspaper: Helps moisture absorption and eases cleanup. Never Dispose of Ashes Hot: Always let them cool completely to prevent fires. Keep Lids Secure: Thwart wind, animals, and snow intrusion. Bonus Tips from Waste Management Professionals Clear snow around bins and avoid burying them in snowbanks. Mark bin locations with reflective tape for easier retrieval Plan Ahead for Spring Winter is the perfect time to pre-schedule your spring cleanings with MN Bin Bath. When April arrives, your bins will be among the first to receive a professional 200°F cleaning and sanitization—washing away the grime from the long winter.

We get asked this a lot. Living in Minnesota, battling against winter is more of an art, than a science. But the lowdown is this: 1) It isn't terribly safe for us to drive our trailer, which carries thousands of pounds of water, in potentially icy conditions. 2) Our 3000+ PSI, 360 degree rotating sprayheads, of which we have two, cost thousands of dollars each. Water freezing inside this would be bad. 3) You probably don't want us spraying the outside of your bin and having that water drip onto the ground and freezing, right outside of your house and/or driveway. 4) Bins tend to not get nearly as bad in the cold weather months. For all of these reasons, we prefer to play it safe in the winter. So here's how it works: Once the weather gets below freezing and/or snow is falling and accumulating, MN Bin Bath bin cleaning services will go on "pause." Think of this like as if you were playing a videogame and paused. If you are a subscribing customer, we will pause all of the upcoming schedule in place at the time of the pause, and once the weather is above freezing and driving conditions seem all right, we will start services back up. NO, YOU DON'T CONTINUE TO GET CHARGED MONTHLY, QUARTERLY, ETC. WHILE OUR SERVICES ARE PAUSED. During the middle of Winter, if we get an extended stretch of 40-45+ degree weather in the forecast (1-2 weeks worth), we will reach out to subscribers next up in our cue for the corresponding days of the week we'd like to get out on a bin cleaning run, to see if they have interest in an additional clean. If not, no big deal -- you're welcome to say you're good for now if you are. Or, the Winter pause could last all the way until March, April, or even later -- again, weather dependent; the "April-November" is just an approximation. So, let's say winter goes long, and finally by mid April the weather is creeping into the 40's. At this time, we will begin by notifying those who we've scheduled of when we aim to resume services. While we are on pause, you will not be charged anything (said again for emphasis). If, before the pause occurs, you get billed a week before your scheduled cleaning date -- and then as we get closer to the scheduled date the weather turns sour and we need to cancel the cleaning, we will reach out to you about rescheduling options, refund, etc. You are also welcome to contact us anytime with any question -- the last thing we want is for you to be uncertain about something. All of this said, all you need to know is this: when we do go on pause, we'll let you know. Anytime in the fall, feel free to request an additional cleaning before the season winds down and ends, if you wish. We certainly can see how a quarterly customer who gets a cleaning in early October may want another cleaning in late November, just to ensure their bins stay a little more pleasant during the pause. Additionally, when we start back up in the Spring, we are always receptive about not forcing a bin cleaning on someone who feels like their bins are still clean. We take it as a compliment if we schedule you in the Spring for your first bin cleaning of the year, and you contact us to request we delay the resumption of your service because "they're still clean." We sincerely do understand that our purpose is to be a convenient service for you, when you want it; and as such, we are never going to force a customer to get a cleaning when they say their bins are still clean and they don't need this round of bin cleanings yet. We hope this helps clarify some questions we've been asked about the winter pause, but if not, don't hesitate to reach out via email: info@mnbinbath.com

That hose you see there? That connects to our 500 gallon wastewater storage tank that catches the water we use when bins are in our claws getting sprayed clean by 200 degree water at 3000 PSI. We then dispose of all that yucky wastewater responsibly at a local wastewater site, as shown above. Why Eco-Friendly Matters Bin cleaning isn’t just about appearances—it’s about hygiene and environmental responsibility. Bins collect food waste, yard debris, diapers, pet waste, and more -- including the germs, bugs and creatures that become attracted to the yuck. When rinsed at home with a garden hose, that dirty water often flows straight into storm drains, eventually reaching local rivers and lakes, untreated. Even worse, if someone uses bleach with their hose water, that water then ends up contaminating our soil, sewers, and waterways -- in addition to it technically being illegal to pour water with bleach onto the ground outside. It may not be immediately noticeable, but this type of improper dumping has lasting and substantial negative effect on our local community. At MN Bin Bath, we’ve designed our cleaning system to protect both your family and the environment. Our Process for Safe Wastewater Disposal 200°F High-Pressure Wash: Each bin is blasted with superheated water, killing 99.9% of germs and loosening grime without the need for harsh chemicals. Onboard Collection: All wastewater used to clean the inside of the bin is captured in our cleaning unit—nothing runs into your street, driveway, or storm drains. We do spray the exterior with of the bin with a high pressure hand wand and this water is not collected, but does not need to be due to exteriors of bins not being dirty to nearly the same degree. Proper Disposal: We responsibly dispose of collected wastewater at approved locations, ensuring it is treated instead of contaminating Minnesota’s waterways and soil. Benefits of Eco-Friendly Bin Cleaning No Harmful Chemicals: Safe for children, pets, and lawns. Protects Local Lakes & Rivers: Prevents harmful bacteria and pollutants from entering storm drains. Cleaner, Greener Communities: Aligns with Minnesota’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Homeowners associations are responsible for maintaining not only the appearance of their communities, but also the health and safety of residents. One often-overlooked area? The garbage and recycling bins that line the curbs every week. Over time, these bins build up bacteria, odors, and pests—creating an unsightly and unhealthy problem. By offering a bulk bin cleaning program, HOAs can provide a valuable perk to homeowners while also protecting the overall cleanliness of the neighborhood. MN Bin Bath is especially beloved within HOA communities that have strict rules about waste bins remaining inside garages. How Bulk HOA Service Works At MN Bin Bath, we’ve made HOA and neighborhood programs as simple as possible: Discounted Group Rates: When multiple homes sign up together, the per-home cost is reduced. Scheduled Service Days: We coordinate with the HOA’s trash pickup schedule to service all homes efficiently in one trip. Curbside Convenience: Residents don’t need to move bins to a central spot—we clean them right where they’re set out. Consistent Results: Each bin is washed with 200°F high-pressure water, deodorized, and sanitized, leaving them fresh and safe to use again. Benefits for HOAs and Residents Improved Curb Appeal: No more dirty, grimy bins lingering in driveways. Pest & Odor Control: Regular cleanings prevent flies, maggots, rodents, and foul smells. Healthier Environment: Sanitized bins reduce harmful bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella. Added Value: Offering bin cleaning as an HOA amenity makes the community more attractive to current and future homeowners. Here in Minnesota, summer brings sunshine, cookouts, and… the unmistakable stench of garbage bins left baking in the heat. If you've noticed your bins smelling worse than ever, you're not alone. Let’s break down why this happens and what you can do to keep those summer smells at bay. ๐ฅ Why Do Garbage Bins Smell Worse in Summer? Heat + Bacteria = Odor Explosion Warm temps accelerate bacterial growth inside your garbage and recycling bins. Leftover food scraps, organic waste, and liquids decompose faster in the heat. Closed lids trap the heat, creating a mini sauna of stink. Flies, maggots, and other pests love hot, smelly bins—they lay eggs in the residue. The result? A bin that smells like it could walk away on its own. ๐งผ How to Reduce Bin Odors Between Professional Cleans 1. Double-Bag the Worst Offenders Especially food scraps, seafood waste, and diapers—use strong, sealed bags. 2. Keep Bins in the Shade Storing bins in direct sunlight makes odors worse. If possible, tuck them on the shaded side of your home or garage. 3. Rinse Out Liquid Residue Immediately Any spills, juices, or leaky bags should be rinsed right away to prevent build-up. 4. We've got several changes and/or additions to highlight for you in 2025: 1) We are now billing for one cleaning at a time. There is still a three-minimum visit requirement for a monthly subscription and 2 minimum visit requirements for quarterly or bi-annual subscriptions -- but we are now only billing for one visit at a time. 2) You will be charged for your subsequent visits 1 week before you are scheduled for visits #2, #3, etc. If, for some reason, the credit card charge is unable to be processed, our system will automatically notify you and ask for updated credit card information. Your spot on the schedule will be reserved until we are out on the route, at which time, if we have not received payment, you'll be removed from being a part of the day's schedule and will remain off the schedule until you re-up your subscription with a new credit card. 3) Any customers who paid for more cleanings than they received in 2024 have been credited the appropriate amount of dollars to their account to be redeemed for 2025 cleanings. We have accounted for 2025 pricing changes for 3+ bins and have credited it appropriately to cover the cleanings you paid for last season. 4) We had a lot of demand for a package less frequent than quarterly, so, we're offering the option for 2x cleanings a year. Depending on the date you sign up for this package, you might only get one cleaning in on your first year. 5) A new, more user-friendly Customer Dashboard with many features: - blocking out dates your bins will be unavailable - easy updating to your plan or canceling it (please don't do that! But if you decide to, we don't want it to be difficult for you to) - seamless refer-a-friend system 6) Pricing that remained as unchanged as we could possibly muster. Our only price change is additional bins 3+ are now $12 per bin for monthly and quarterly plans, $15 for bi-annual plans, and $20 for additional bins for one-time cleans. And a one-time clean is now $90. Being a new business in 2024, we learned much about how much time/money is needed to clean additional bins, and the typical condition of bins on their first clean warranted a more substantial upcharge for one-time cleans. We really did not want to raise any prices, but the viability of our business necessitated this change. With that said, we're so excited to be back for season 2.0, and can't wait to give you lots more chances to Experience the MN Bin Bath Difference.
